Literature Text

Sit and tell a story, John.
Bring a detective story and a thermos of tea )two cups(
read it and present it to the judging gravestone
it listens with an ugly sneer
and scoffs at the dialogue
)though he's dead
you can hear his voice(
and you've never heard a silence so wretched
)he demanded it in life;
he would not receive it, even in death,
so help him God(

Bring along an encyclopedia of poisons
list them off to the name engraved
)the man engraved also,
for he himself could never be entombed(
You'll consider them
what they might taste like on your tongue
)probably like dust – as everything else
does(
Consider the impossible things to say
(I you)
or to sign
(you I)
or to symbol
(≠ Ʃ(═?); ÷ ♥);
the arithmetic ends
with a newly-stained entry for
hemlock

You're beginning to break down, John

)fairy tales
are for little children
the ones you see in your office, sick, sad, snotty

why couldn't the book have stayed closed?(

Carry your cane if you must, John
if the pain won't stay in your heart

toxins will leak, and all barriers have weak spots
)even in a heart hidden in a well of earth and stone and ice and --
and bound by a scarf that's made of midnight(

tell it through to the end, John,
a gravestone doesn't go anywhere.
Only have the warning up because some people haven't seen Reichenbach Fall yet.

In an effort to shake me out of a post-Fall state. It's not very good. Probably will scrap later. Maybe it will help somebody else?

Jesus. I have class in about eight hours and I have so much to do, and sleep, at some point. More shoddy poetry to follow, probably.

Goddamn. The emotions. I just want to hug everyone and cry and just hell.

Random notes:
Ʃ is the Greek letter sigma, which in mathematics means "the sum of."
Linear regression is when you have a bunch of data plotted out, and you try to find a line that intersects with as many points as possible, so it can predict data points further on the graph. It's a shitty title, though, because I'm taking regression as "to regress" instead of "to do some math."

[edit] Comments would be nice. OTL' I don't mind favorites, but really I need to bemoan this, I think it would be therapeutic for all of us, no?[/edit]

[edit2] Took down the warning. It's been a week, that's fair time. [/edit2]

[edit3] This poem will be published in an anthology put out by A Guide to Deduction for charity! Woohoo, y'all! [/edit3]

John and Sherlock to Mark Gatiss and Stephen Moffat, my writing idols
shitty poetry to ~chen63
all these damn emotions to everyone in the damn fandom, goddamnit.
